Accessible Design Department

In this department, we associate with people with extensive backrounds in accessible design: both public and private contractors, engineers, architects and inspectors. We work on detailed architectural plans and make our suggestions using our skillful “eye” utilizing the American Disabilities Act and UBC Title 24. We try and ensure Persons of disABILITIES and senior citizens the safest path of travel. We also survey job sites and inspect their work, and make sure everything is up to the correct codes to meet state and federal law.

Our goal in this department is to make sure persons with disABILITIES and seniors in our community most importantly have a safe path of travel, from their front door to the mode of transportation they will be using, whether it’s by car, plane, wheelchair, bus, cane or walker.

The duties assigned to this department are:
  • Answering the Hotline: This is where the public calls in with complaints about community issues on the sidewalk, etc.
  • Fixing computers, printers and other equipment that may break down during the day.
  • Going to IMI events to make sure ADA and Title 24 codes for accessibility are applied proper
